On Saturday afternoon, friends and family gathered to celebrate Charlotte’s upcoming first birthday. Party planning isn’t my forte so I’m fortunate to have had plenty of help from creative family members. After incessantly scrolling through Pinterest for theme ideas, I decided a whimsical ‘woodland one-derland’ sounded too cute.
My cousin graciously hosted the party in her backyard – complete with a variety of decor she so creatively fashioned. Some whimsical touches included flow-y drapes, empty frames, cozy blankets cloaked over benches and chairs, and lots of burlap.
I will forever be thankful to my cousin who sacrificed her time and opened up her home to create the most adorable party for our sweet girl. It was the kind of afternoon that we didnβt want to end.
Here are some more details:
- The invitation is from Shutterfly. I was so pleased with how they turned out!
- Charlotte’s birthday crown headband was a darling find from Moonpennies Kids (and her dress was from Baby Gap!)
- I crafted the ‘O-N-E’ banner (simply) with some twine and cutouts from Hobby Lobby.
- Our cakes were made by Mrs. Goodman’s – a local bakery. I added the bunting (purchased from Kiss Me Kate Studio) and woodland critters (Marty found at an antique shop near our house.)
- My sister baked ‘toadstool’ cupcakes for an additional sweet treat! Talented lady, I tell you.
- We served two types of chili (thanks mom!), ‘pinecone’ cheese balls, ‘fallen branches’ (pretzel sticks), ‘deer food’ (veggie tray), and freshly picked berries (from the local market.)
My favorite part of the day was watching Charlotte taste her first bites of sugar! To our surprise, she didn’t seem to enjoy it (is she my daughter??) We all thought the frosting may have been a bit too rich for her. She sure looked adorable while playing in the crumbs.
My only regrets? We didn’t capture a decent photo of us with the birthday girl. That said, the most important thing is that we got to spend a perfect fall afternoon with our loved ones, celebrating little miss Charlotte Rose.
i love everything about this. absolutely the most heart-warming birthday party of all. can i score an invite to the second birthday?
I love this. Everything was super cute. Happy birthday Charlotte!
I cannot believe for even a 1/2 a second that she’s already ONE!!!
I’m dying over how the party was decorated! It’s Pinterest perfect!
i love the decorations and how you decorated the wooden fence!! how are you feeling about her being one ALREADY?! also, i think that picture with her holding the ballon should be framed and blown up and used for a commercial campaign probably as well π
I definitely have mixed emotions about her turning one. It’s bittersweet. I’m happy to see her thriving and growing; however, I wish the newborn/teeny tiny stage lasted longer! And yes – I love the balloon photo. It’s one of my favorites!
Happy Birthday to Charlotte! This party looks like Pinterest come to life! Absolutely beautiful π I love the candid photo of the 3 of you!
Thank you! I definitely tried to recreate some fun Pinterest finds; I’m glad the searching paid off π
What a fun day! I love the theme and the family picture!
How is your sister’s baby that big already?? I can’t believe how fast time goes!
Happy (early) birthday, Charlotte!
I know! He will be two next month. Time really does fly by TOO fast. It’s funny because as Marty and I were waiting for Landon to be born (at the hospital), I never would’ve thought I would be pregnant two months later. I’m glad the cousins are so close in age π
Look at that cutie pie! Wish I could have been there π
I wish you could’ve been there, too! I owe you a phone call – miss you! β€
Awe…what a beautiful day to celebrate such a beautiful girl. Love these pictures. Happy Birthday Charlotte!!
Thanks Kate!
This is soooo great! I ADORE the toadstool cupcakes. π
My sister did such a great job! I’m not sure they would’ve turned out that well had I done them π
