April: Currently.

I’ve seen posts such as these floating around on several blogs and decided it’d be a nice way to check in on here more than once a month. I really do want to use this little space more often! I love hearing from you all and I think it’s such a wonderful way to document not only my life but, Miss Charlotte, too!

finishing The Storied Life of AJ Fikry by Gabrielle Zevin I really enjoyed it! It’s a delightful little read. Full of big + little surprises throughout.

ordering new headbands for Charlotte. I love the MintandArrows store on Etsy.

drinking iced black decaf americanos. Quite refreshing on a warm spring day!

watching Parenthood on Netflix. I’m currently on season three. It’s not my favorite show but I am hooked on the storyline. My favorite characters are Julia + Joel. I can’t stand Amber.

needing a part-time job.

asking for a diffuser (for essential oils.) As a former skeptic, I attended an essential oils class a couple of weeks ago. I wasn’t planning on purchasing anything; however, I love that 1) the oils can be diffused 2) the diffused scents aren’t as oppressive as a candle + air freshener 3) each bottle lasts a significant amount of time 4) they are free of harsh chemicals typically found in candles + air fresheners.

addicted to this new song from Hillsong United.

grateful for time spent with my mom and aunt last weekend. Two of my favorite people in the world.

determined to complete my 10K training app.

listening to The Longest Shortest Time podcast.

feeling tired (and cranky.) Charlotte has been sleeping in 2.5-3 hour blocks and it’s making me very tired mama.

embracing the longer days for evening walks with my little family.

eating ‘skinny’ tuna salad wraps almost every day for lunch. Never in my life had I tried tuna salad until our trip to North Carolina last month. Who knew it’d become a new lunch staple in my household. I’ve been using this delicious recipe.

realizing that I probably shouldn’t have signed up for a half marathon without following through with the training. Next weekend is going to come too soon. EEK.

What’s something that’s currently going on with you this month?

    1. I just started season four yesterday! It really is a great show. Marty will hear me watching it and has even commented on the quality of the writing! 🙂 I have only choked up once but I think it’s because I went and looked at all the spoilers on a Buzzfeed list before I watched the show (it was something like the ’35 Moments That Made Us Ugly-Cry in Parenthood’); I think I would’ve cried more if I hadn’t read this list!

  1. Big fan of essential oils! I’m amazed that you can handle Americanos. Aren’t they the drinks with no milk? I’m a “have a little coffee” with your cream and sugar type gal, lol. Use to drink espresso but I don’t think I could stomach it now (unless it was in a latte). Just finished reading two short stories by Stephen King last weekend and I’ve been struggling through a Nobokov novel for months. It’s called “Invitation to a Beheading” and it’s good but not such a page turner that I have to read it everyday.

  2. We have THREE diffusers in my house! HAHA, they are a bit pricey, but so worth it. I have a crap ton of oil from Young Living because my mom sorta kinda sells them for fun/I give her money and she buys them through her own account. My favorites are thieves, peppermint, lavender, and lemon!

    EEEP half marathon time!

    1. Thanks for sharing the post. I enjoyed reading it 🙂 Also, thank you for the book recommendation! I’m always looking for suggestions on what to read next. Hope all is well in these first weeks with you and your little one 🙂 He’s just adorable!

    1. You should definitely steal the format! I really liked the idea because it is a bit easier to read than paragraph after paragraph. I feel like people don’t really know much about me so I also figured it’d be a good way for people to learn more and not just see my photo posts 🙂

  3. Ahh Charlotte is getting so BIG! Such a pretty little munchkin. ❤ Let us know how the 10K/half-mary go…I'm considering training for a half, too, so it won't hurt to dip my toes in the water vicariously!

    1. They are adorable and really affordable (plus I love to support the sellers on Etsy!)

Also, I’m hoping to do a run/walk if my legs can’t handle the mileage. I’m really wanting to sell my bib on Craigslist (thinking about putting it up today.) My biggest worry is the lack of sleep – then attempting to have the endurance to run for that long. YIKES!

  4. I love essential oils! I use peppermint oil on my temples when I’m having a really bad headache. Usually provides relief. Plus, they do smell so good. I’m loving the podcast This American Life. I highly recommend it if you don’t listen to it already.

    1. I will definitely check out This American Life! I’ve heard of the name but don’t know anything about it. Always looking for podcast suggestions. If you find another you like, let me know 🙂
