I can’t believe it has already been two weeks since Memorial Day weekend! Where does the time go??

As per tradition, my family and I headed to Indianapolis for the annual Indy 500 Race. This year was really laid back and relaxed (I actually prefer it that way.)  Typically, we all head out to a fancy dinner at Mo’s Steakhouse on the night before the race; however, this year we had a cookout and just spent time catching up with one another. I really wish I got to see this side of the family more often.

Sidenote: I truly think one of the saddest things in life is only seeing your out-of-state family members just once or twice a year. It makes me wish domestic flights were more affordable! I digress…

As for the Indy 500: Before the race, Marty and I headed to the inside of the track to kill some time. As we wandered around, we saw that Leann Rimes was standing on the ‘red carpet’; I can’t say I’m a fan of hers but it was a fun celebrity sighting nonetheless. The race itself was really entertaining this year. The last ten laps were neck-and-neck and everyone was on their feet cheering.

After the race we headed into downtown Indy for dinner at Palomino. I highly recommend this restaurant for anyone that lives in Indianapolis or is planning to visit the city. Yum!

I’d say the weekend was one of the best (if not the very best) I’ve ever experienced. A laid back, relaxing trip was just what I needed after several hectic weeks of nannying! 🙂

  1. Isn’t it fun to see famous people, even when you’re not a fan? I once saw Josh Hartnet in Little Italy which tripped me out. My latest celeb run in was Julianne Moore at Starbucks.

      1. Me too!! And best of all?? We made eye- contact. She smiled at me that little polite/shy smile she has in movies sometimes. I think she was with her daughter. Ahh, just another day in the city lol.

  2. I couldn’t agree more about only seeing out-of-town family once in a great while; it’s just not fair! Looks like you had a great time at the Indy500, Di!
