12 Photos in 2013.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get around to posting this before the new year began so here we are – almost three weeks into 2014 – and I wanted to share my favorite photos of 2013. My photography is slowly improving and I think I’m finally ready to upgrade my Cannon Rebel this year (even if that just means getting a new lens!) Looking forward to more photo-taking in 2014 but until then…here are my favorite photos of 2013:

JANUARY: I didn’t actually take my favorite picture of January but it is my favorite nonetheless. I participated in a spicy popcorn ball eating contest and took second place. Despite finishing about thirty seconds after the first place winner; I was the only girl to enter the contest so I was quite proud of that 🙂 (Thank you Marty for the photo!)Firey Foods Fest 004
FEBRUARY: This photo was taken at the top of the Duquesne Incline in Pittsburgh, PA. Marty and I stopped to take in the view before heading back to Columbus. 2013-02-16 Pittsburgh 054

MARCH: I didn’t take a ton of pictures in March so I searched through some photos I took while visiting Cincinnati for a girls day out. This photo was taken outside of the Cincinnati Art Museum in Mt. Adams, Ohio. Mt Adams 003
APRIL: I just love Easter and this is one of my favorite pictures from Easter 2013. Easter Weekend 005 (BW)

MAY: Apparently I wasn’t taking a ton of pictures in the beginning-middle of the year (maybe it’s because I prefer the fall and winter months 🙂 ) but the ones that I did have were 1) from my cell phone and 2) from the annual trip to Indianapolis for the Indianapolis 500.  As I was going through the pictures, I stumbled upon this one. Marty and I went for a walk in the rain the night before the race. It was a romantic little walk and, hey, it’s always nice to get away from all of the family for a bit.
JUNE: Another month with very few pictures. I celebrated my cousins graduation and Marty and I took some bike outings; however, there weren’t many exciting photos for June. I did stumble across this photo from National Donut Day. Marty and I rushed down to Buckeye Donuts before the donut celebration was officially over. There is something about this photo I just really love.IMG_20130611_140236

JULY: Such a hectic month. Vacations, bridal showers, bachelorette parties – there was a lot to choose from. I decided to pick a favorite picture of mine from our vacation to Destin, Florida. Although we had originally planned to vacation with our friends, Danette & Shane, a family emergency sent them home on our first day. While we were really bummed about the lost opportunity to spend time with friends, we ended up really enjoying ourselves and making the trip into a romantic couples vacation. This is one of my favorite pictures of Marty from our trip.Florida 018
AUGUST: I had to chose this picture of Gracie (my parents dog) for my favorite from August. IMG_0034
SEPTEMBER:I love this shot from a Saturday farmer’s market in Clintonville. We love our little town (just a few miles north of Ohio State’s campus.) The community is so friendly and diverse. We love it!IMG_0507[1]
OCTOBER: I took some photos of my sisters baby bump at the pumpkin patch. This was one of my favorites!
NOVEMBER: I feel like the snow started fairly early in Columbus this year. I really loved the contrast between the leaves and snow in this photo.

DECEMBER: So many exciting and festive things happened in the month of December: baby Landon was born, cookies were made, decorations were hung, and trees were cut down. I know it probably makes me a terrible aunt for not choosing a photo from Landon’s birth; however, I can’t get over this photo of Marty while we were out chopping down our Christmas tree. As I stated in the tree post – our experience was just very romantic and magical. Processed with VSCOcam with x1 preset

Thank you all for your sweet comments on my photos over the last year. They have meant so much to me and I can’t wait to take more photos in 2014. Look out for many pictures of my sweet nephew Landon, our summer vacation on the East Coast and our third annual trip to NYC in December!

Also, take a look at last years favorites!

  1. WOW! Mind=blown! These photos are amazing Di. I love the one that you took of Marty reading- it looks so professional! And your expression in the first one is so funny! You’re like “I WILL win this contest” hahah

    1. Aw thank you 🙂 I really love the one of Marty reading too. I sometimes think that photos without faces are even better than photos with faces. The little details can be wonderful to photograph.

  2. You have a great eye, no doubt about it! I heavily suggest investing in a new lens before a new camera (depending what lens you already have).

PS: I also just came back from NYC and really enjoyed your post!

  3. Such gorgeous photo’s Di! I’d be interested to know how you ate that popcorn ball! It looks huge! Love the one of Gracie and the pumpkin batch baby bump, and then the real baby too!

  4. 2nd place in a spicy popcorn ball eating contest? i’m impressed and i didn’t even know spicy popcorn balls were a thing 🙂 the maternity pictures you took for your sister are absolutely gorgeous 🙂

  5. my favorite: the november picture. hands down. i don’t think i have ever seen anything quite like it. trees still that colorful with snow on the ground. absolutely stunning. also high five for being the only girl in the eating contest! 🙂
