I have a weird confession: whenever I think about the wonderful qualities of my father [more often than not] I’m brought to tears. Why?

Well…I’m not exactly sure why?

What I am sure of is that I am so blessed to have such an honorable man as a father.

My dad is an extremely hardworking, selfless, admirable man. He has always given me unwavering grace (regardless of whether or not I’ve deserved it.) He is sweet. He is modest. He’s hysterical. Truly, my dad has such a wonderful, dry sense of humor (it’s funny because he is somewhat shy but his humor is one thing that always shines through.) I am SO thankful for him and am just overwhelmed by his commendable character.

What is one of your favorite things about your father? How was your Father’s Day?

  1. This is beautiful, YOU are beautiful in that wedding dress!! Such a great post for your dad. My dad gave me my work ethic and money savvy ways! I am sure thankful for that!

    1. Thanks lady 🙂 That’s awesome that your dad passed along his financial wisdom to you. My dad is savvy in that area but, unfortunately, that wisdom wasn’t passed down to me. Thankfully God matched me with someone that has better control in that area than me 🙂 I can’t imagine if I were married with someone with similar spending habits – it’d be a disaster!

  2. This is such a wonderfully sweet post! I love hearing about people who love an appreciate their parents. My father passed away when I was younger but I am so happy to have many wonderful memories with him. Some of my favorite memories with him are spending summers on the lake end. I was little.

  3. I’m a total daddy’s girl and am often brought to tears when I think of him too. He’s one of my besties and totally reminds me of Bill Cosby and the black guy from the shining.

  4. You were one beautiful bride, Di! Your dad seems like an adorable and remarkable man. It makes me so happy to read about others’ loving connections with their dad (on FB, other blogs, etc). I can so relate to your “tearing up” sentiment. Dads just have a special place in our hearts!

    1. Thanks Jorie! And yes, I agree about the special place in our hearts 🙂 I’m always happy to hear when people have good relationships with their families (somewhat of a rarity in this day and age!)

    1. I think marriage definitely has something to do with it 🙂 I was so emotional when I walked down the aisle with my dad (and what surprised me was that it began with thoughts of leaving my dad – sorry Marty!!)
