30 Breakfasts: Coffee Protein Shake.

Two recipes down…twenty-eight to go πŸ™‚

For my second breakfast in this challenge I decided to go with a yummy ‘Coffee Protein Shake’ I had pinned last month. Coffee in my morning shake? Sounds like a good plan to me!

Pin 2
Anyways, I clicked on the pin and realized that the recipe had actually come from one of my favorite bloggers: Fit Is the New Black. If you haven’t checked out her blog, I highly recommend you do so! Holly is the creator of the site and she gives GREAT fitness and health tips. She is direct, honest andΒ knowledgeable; I always look forward to her posts πŸ™‚ Thanks Holly for this delicious shake!

Coffee Protein Shake (2)

So the recipe? Another easy one!

Coffee Protein Shake
(via Fit is the New Black)
1 cup Cold Coffee
1 cup Almond Milk
1/2 Frozen Banana
1 scoop Protein Powder (vanilla or chocolate)
2 cups Ice

In a blender, combine all ingredients. Pour into cup and enjoy!

My Review: I really enjoyed this shake. It reminded me of a Frosty from Wendy’s (I mean, obviously it’s not exactly a Frosty but they are quite similar.) πŸ™‚ I am not sure if it would last me until lunch or a morning snack; however, if you use a higher level protein it would likely hold you over until your next meal.

Let me know if you 1) try it 2) like it! Also, don’t forget to check out Holly’s page!

  1. I have wanting to try this for a while. Finally did tonight. It was good. I did add a whole frozen banana instead of a 1/2 of one. Also I used Unsweetened Almond Milk and added a bit of chocolate syrup. Just needed more flavor. All in all I will make it again. Maybe next time I will try the sweetened Vanilla Almond Milk. Thanks for sharing. Going to pin it so I will have it.

  2. I love it I added a measured tablespoon of PB2 too it the first time I tried it..It was great!!
Thx so much for sharing I love anything coffe & anything protein so this is a win win πŸ˜‰

  3. Just bought my personalized Oyster blender. This is my first smoothie…love it! I used hot coffee…hopefully it will fill me up!

  4. I made this today and omg, delish!!! Yes it tastes like a frosty! Loovvveee coffee not a big protein powder fan but this is the way I’ll use protein powder….thanks!!!

  5. Hey girls, I make my protein shake with coffee very similarly… Only I make my coffee the night before and mix 2tbsp INSTANT coffee in it as well for added coffee flavor (and kick)… Also when I treat myself I’ll add Seattle’s Best Latte powder… Which also contains coffee…. What else? I add this to my hot coffee and refrigerate it over night. Makes it quick and easy if you are running out the door after a busy morning like me… (Working out, getting kids ready for school, and getting yourself ready for work!!!) I use everything listed above but my protein shake tastes more like a frappiccino than a milkshake… Which I personally prefer. Plus…. You’re getting PROTEIN! (Oh I use coconut milk due to allergies and some honey)

  6. drinking this now. I’m on a semi/paleo diet and this is a nice option. I substituted blueberries and strawberries for the banana. Thanks!

  7. Girl, this sounds so wonderful!! I just bought myself some latte protein mix that I can hardly wait to try out in a smoothie.

  8. This looks delicious! I definitely want to try it, but like you said I’d probably have to have it with something else in order to stay full until lunchtime! Worth a shot though!
