Tuesday Thoughts…A Few Days Late.

Tuesday Thursday Thoughts…better late than never? 😀

1. First up, a quick review of my weekend: it is finally starting to feel like autumn in Columbus. Yes. Saturday morning was rainy and around 60 degrees- the perfect temperature for a new book, blanket, coffee and the front porch.

Later in the day I met up with my sister to see Hope Springs (I’ve been on a movie craze lately, something that hasn’t happened for months!) I found the movie to be charming, yet sad. The basic premise: a married couple in their 60s seek intensive marital counseling in hopes to reignite the lost spark in their marriage. While it was just a movie, I do realize the reality; a scenario happening all too often. 😦

2.) I finally made it to Bath and Body Works for some new candles. I decided on Cider Lane and Leaves-both are perfect fall scents. I also bought some Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin lip gloss because…well…why not?

3.) I’ve made several new recipes lately. I can get in little ruts where I’m consistently making the same thing and, don’t get me wrong, I wouldn’t make the same thing if I didn’t really enjoy it but I figured it was time to start branching out. Try these Pumpkin Protein Pancakes from Julie at PBFingers and Quinoa and Edamame Salad from Baking Serendipity.

4.) I start a new nanny job on Monday and I’m really excited. I made a one year commitment which will take me right up to the 2013-2014 school year. My plan is to begin teaching then; however, I’m really looking forward to spending some time with these sweet new kiddos (two and a half and a three month old!) 🙂

Speaking of the kiddos, I’ve found some really adorable crafts on Pinterest that I plan to do with the little girl (two and a half year old) this fall. Do you have any other suggestions of some fun activities (both indoor and outdoor) for us this fall and winter?

5.) As much as I’m addicted to pumpkin, I have yet to enjoy a pumpkin spice latte. I’m thinking that will have to be done at some point over the next couple of days 🙂

  1. I’ve been wanting to see Hope Springs but I know what you mean about feeling depressed. Hollywood has been on a mean streak of portraying these lackluster marriages, and I’m just praying that it’s not what marriage is really like…

    1. I think that marriage is work and a lot of people approach it with the idea that they have found ‘the one’ and can just sit back and let their romance live on. Unfortunately it doesn’t work that way and if people aren’t willing to work through the ‘not so good’ times, they’ll end up divorcing or end up as two strangers under the same roof. It’s definitely sad but we can’t forget the marriages that thrive well into their 80s and 90s; I always find that so encouraging (and very sweet) to see! 🙂

  2. I really liked the Leaves scent too! And I have yet to get a pumpkin spice latte, but got a gift card for my birthday so I should definitely make use of it soon.
