Oh breakfast – how I love thee. No, but really, I love breakfast.
It has to be said that breakfast is, by far, my favorite meal of the day. Eggs, toast, cereal, english muffins, turkey sausage, bagels, cream cheese, oatmeal, fruit, pancakes, waffles, muffins, scones, biscotti and of course, coffee; the list of breakfast possibilities is endless.
I love making omelets. I love creating different varieties of oatmeal. I love bagels and cream cheese (especially Panera’s). My mouth is watering as I think of all the amazing breakfast creations. Yum.
During the week, I don’t have as much time to enjoy breakfast (at least not as much time as I do on the weekends). My weekday mornings consist of a sudden leap out of bed into the shower, afterwards rushing to let the dog out while simultaneously brushing my teeth or attempting to put on my shoes. As I pass through the kitchen, I have about a minute to grab a Chobani yogurt and a banana before it’s time to head to work or class. Weekday mornings = rushed.
But on the weekend? Mornings (well, breakfasts in particular) look a lot different. My favorite way to enjoy breakfast is by taking my time. You know – you come downstairs, only turning on necessary lights to allow the natural light to creep it’s way through the rooms. You hit the kitchen sink, fill up the coffee pot with hot water, press brew and wait as the aroma of coffee fills the air. Once brewed, you grab your favorite mug, pour a cup while anticipating the first sip that hits your lips. That first taste of morning coffee is something that just can’t be beaten.
