This Christmas was one of the best I can remember. The weekend festivities started off on Friday night with dinner at the Florentine (a delicious, traditional, Italian restaurant downtown) then the Nutcracker with my mom, dad, sister, her boyfriend and Marty. We had such a good time together. It was nice to finally do something festive in celebration of the season.
On Saturday, Marty and I finished some last minute Christmas shopping before I was off to church to sing. Afterwards we headed to my father-in-laws house for the traditional Boden Christmas Eve party. It was such a great time. His family had already been so welcoming but I truly felt like a Boden that night. We enjoyed cut out cookies, fudge, and eggnog – perfect goodies for Christmas Eve. Then we opened gifts and sung the Twelve Days of Christmas (I was five golden rings). I love that this is going to be my Christmas Eve tradition every year. Love. Love. Love.
We left Big Marty’s house around midnight and headed to my parents house so that we could wake up and spend Christmas morning with them. It was such a nice morning with my family – coffee, laughs, and french toast casserole. Yum. Favorite gifts: a printer for our house (YES!), a new winter coat, Diddy Kong Racing for N64 (YES!), and some books on photography. Oh, and I forgot to mention the newest Sirkoski addition: Minnie. My mom bought my dad a kitten for Christmas! She’s so adorable. Anyways, the rest of the day was spent traveling to Marty’s grandparents’ houses. It was nice to see all of our family members but definitely an exhausting day. When we finally got back home, we were spent.
I have to admit, it was weird not to spend all of Christmas (or Christmas Eve) with my family but it was nice to make new traditions. I’m so looking forward to what other traditions will occur throughout the years.
